Lamborghini Urus

2026-10-01 20:20:05

Model Overview

The Lamborghini Urus is the inaugural Super SUV from Italian supercar marque Lamborghini and stands as one of the most strategically significant models in the brand's history. The Urus moniker is derived from the wild ancestor of domestic cattle—the Aurochs—carrying forward Lamborghini's tradition of naming models after fighting bulls. The Urus concept first broke cover at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, while the production version made its global debut in Sant'Agata Bolognese in December 2017 before officially hitting the market in 2018. As the Raging Bull's first-ever SUV, the Urus heralded the traditional supercar manufacturer's official foray into the high-end SUV segment. As of June 2026, the primary variant on sale in the domestic market is the 2026 Urus SE, commanding an official retail price of RM2,971,000. Globally, the Urus has cemented itself as Lamborghini's sales backbone, accounting for over 60% of the brand's worldwide deliveries.

Design Language

The exterior styling of the Urus marries athleticism, elegance, and off-road capability. Its deeply sculpted, muscular exterior exudes an assertive and confident road presence. Up front, a prominent honeycomb radiator grille is flanked by aggressive, fang-like air intakes. In profile, sharp, chiseled character lines define its low-slung, wide-body stance, complemented at the rear by Lamborghini's signature Y-shaped LED tail lights. In terms of dimensions, it measures 5,112 mm in length, 2,181 mm in width (including wing mirrors), and 1,638 mm in height, with a generous 3,003 mm wheelbase.

The 2026 Urus SE wears Lamborghini's redesigned brand crest—the first update to the emblem since 1972—featuring a clean, flat aesthetic, transitioning from gold to a bronze hue alongside a broader typeface. Two exclusive exterior shades join the palette: Grigio Titans (Grey) from the Ad Personam matte bespoke range, and Viola Galaxias Matt (Purple) from the contemporary colour collection. Through the Ad Personam bespoke programme, buyers can choose from more than 100 paint finishes for the Urus SE.

Inside, the 2026 Urus SE debuts the eco-friendly, high-performance Corsa Tex material. Produced from recycled polyester via a water-based process, it is available across three cabin configurations: Monocolore, Bicolore, and Sportivo. Taking centre stage on the dashboard is a 12.3-inch touchscreen powered by the LIS III infotainment system. A dedicated physical EGO hotkey has also been added, allowing the driver to instantly access bespoke drive mode settings at the push of a button.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the bonnet, the 2026 Urus SE is driven by a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain pairing a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. The V8 unit delivers 620 hp (456 kW) and 800 Nm of torque, while the electric motor generates 192 hp (141 kW) and 483 Nm. Together, the hybrid setup develops a combined 800 hp (588 kW) and 950 Nm of torque. Power is channeled through an 8-speed automatic transmission. Benchmark performance figures are staggering: 0-100 km/h is dispatched in just 3.4 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 11.2 seconds, on to a top speed of 312 km/h. Electric energy is stored in a 25.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, delivering a WLTC-rated pure electric range of 42 km, alongside an ultra-low combined fuel consumption rating of 2.08 L/100 km on the WLTC cycle.

Additionally, Lamborghini took the wraps off the Urus SE Tettonero special edition in May 2026, capped at just 630 units worldwide. Co-developed by the Centro Stile design department and the Ad Personam personalisation division, the limited-run model retains the identical 4.0T V8 PHEV setup, outputting a combined 800 hp and 950 Nm to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.4 seconds.

Chassis and Handling

Underneath, the Urus rides on multi-link independent suspension front and rear. Extensive use of lightweight aluminium components lowers unsprung mass, sharpening dynamics whilst preserving ride comfort. The SUV comes equipped with adaptive dampers that alter damping characteristics on the fly—firming up in corners to mitigate body roll and softening over straight stretches for a pliant ride. An active anti-roll bar system works in tandem to keep body motion thoroughly in check at speed and through twisty sections. Delivering traction is a permanent all-wheel-drive (AWD) system equipped with a Torsen centre differential and an electronic rear differential, ensuring optimal power delivery across all four wheels at all times.

Cabin and Equipment

The Urus SE adopts a practical five-door, five-seater layout. Cabin kit includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a matching 12.3-inch central touchscreen, driven by the Lamborghini Infotainment System III (LIS III) with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. Audiophiles are treated to a premium Bang & Olufsen sound system. Amenities include multi-colour ambient lighting and dual-zone climate control. New for the 2026 model year is the dedicated EGO quick-access switchgear, allowing drivers to immediately bring up custom drive mode configurations on screen.

Safety and Driver Assistance

On the safety front, the Urus SE comes fitted with front airbags, front side airbags, and curtain airbags. Its suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) encompasses Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Traffic Sign Recognition, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB). Eschewing overly complex autonomous driving tech, the Urus focuses squarely on delivering unadulterated performance and driving engagement.

Market Performance and Reception

Since its launch in 2018, the Urus has established itself as the bedrock of Lamborghini's sales volume. In 2025, Lamborghini's global deliveries reached 10,747 units, surpassing the 10,000-unit threshold for the third consecutive year. The Urus played a pivotal role in this feat, with both the Urus and Revuelto hybrid offerings spearheading the brand's sales surge. Across the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), Lamborghini recorded 4,650 deliveries in 2025, leading all three major geographic regions.

In the Chinese market, the 2026 Urus SE officially went on sale in May 2026 with a price tag of RM2,971,000. Benefiting from its plug-in hybrid setup, the model qualifies for new energy vehicle purchase incentives in selected cities. Within this high-echelon segment, the Urus SE goes head-to-head with rivals such as the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid (729 hp, approx. RM2,460,000) and the Aston Martin DBX707 (707 hp, approx. RM3,300,000), retaining the upper hand in outright power figures and wheelbase dimensions. From its concept unveiling in 2012 to its production launch in 2018 and subsequent PHEV evolution in 2024, the Lamborghini Urus has successfully blended supercar pedigree with everyday SUV versatility, carving out an inimitable niche in the ultra-luxury performance SUV arena.
